Plenty of fireworks in the first half as Clemson and LSU have put on quite a show for the Georgia Dome crowd.
LSU struck first as Jeremy Hill took the pitch from Zac Mettenberger around right end for 17 yards and the first touchdown of the game. LSU started their first offensive drive at the Clemson 23 yard line after a Sammy Watkins fumble.
Clemson didn’t lay down as they answered the Tigers from the Bayou with an 11 play, 75 yard drive that was capped off by a Tajh Boyd 11 yard touchdown run.
Each team would then trade possessions as the score remained tied 7-7 heading to the second quarter.
LSU started the second quarter capping off an eight play, 40 yard drive when Zac Mettenberger hit Jarvis Landry on a six yard scoring pass. LSU took the lead after the Drew Alleman extra point 14-7.
After trading possessions, Clemson finished off an eight play, 70 yard drive as Tajh Boyd hit DeAndre Hopkins on an 11 yard touchdown pass, the extra point was blocked, and LSU took a one point lead into the half, 14-13.
For LSU, Jeremy Hill finished the first half with 36 yards rushing on five carries and also had a 17 yard scoring run.
Zac Mettenberger was 9 of 12 for 95 yards and a score.
