Stephone Anthony

Will Anthony step up in 2013?

Clemson247 continues our position eval with linebackers.

    • Big year for Anthony. I think it's time for him to step up.

Happens when you get to typing too fast. We're correcting it. Thanks for pointing that out.

    • No big deal was wondering myself

    • This next season should tell the tale on Clemson's LB situation. The talent, on paper, is undeniable. Time for Anthony and Steward to start cracking heads and living up to their billing or be labeled as busts.

With those two, Townsend, Justin Parker, the OU transfer, and the additions of recent signings, if Spencer Shuey is the leading tackler of all those guys......I will have to conclude the evaluation and/or development of LBs is seriously lacking at Clemson. Hope they prove otherwise.

I agree Blue except I'm not sure Lateek or Parker play. Too much ahead of them.

    • I guess Parker just doesn't have the physical tools once thought, and Townsend lacks the mental aspect. At this point at least. I wonder if Townsend will decide to move on or decide to work harder learning the system.

Teek practiced at RB and Tra Thomas at FB on the scout team during bowl practice. While I am not saying either wind up moving to that position you can't help but think they wind up in a different role.

Teek needs to be on the field in one capacity or another, don't you think? We don't need him wasting away on the sidelines....

    • I agree but lets give Coach Venables a little time to get these guys coached up. Anthony will be more productive in an outside spot, I have a feeling Stewards gonna blow up this year. Sometimes it takes guys time for the light to come on not everybody develops at the same rate.

Totally agree with that, it does take some longer than others.

    • I think what coach venables did with shuey and willard should be commended. Sometimes we get too caught up in what we think a player should be to appreciate the production. I was extremely skeptical of Shuey but his insertion stabilized the opponents running game and that cant be over looked. Anthony just didnt look comfortable there and this offseason if he is moved to SAM then I expect him to produce. Steward IMO will give us a more explosive player at the WILL spot, although willard made HUGE strides.I think the production of the LB corp is going to pick up this upcoming yr.

I think so as well, with those three and the addition of Jones...should be solid.

Christian is also back, and even though Im not a big fan of his play, he is experienced.
