Clemson wins offensive slugfest

In a game of momentum swings, Clemson ultimately prevailed over North Carolina State 62-48 in a wild shootout game.

Tajh Boyd accounted for 8 touchdowns in Clemson's 62-48 victory over NC State.

The Tigers jumped out to an early 13-0 lead, making easy work of the Wolfpack defense. But the Pack stormed back scoring on three quick touchdown passes from Mike Glennon, including back to back touchdowns of 77 and 49 yards to Tobias Palmer.

Clemson's pass defense looked vulnerable throughout the entire half, as Glennon finished with 328 first half yards through the air. However, Glennon made two critical turnovers late in the second quarter, first tossing an interception in the Clemson end zone and then fumbling on his next play from scrimmage deep in his own territory. Clemson capitalized on these mistakes and soared ahead to a 41-24 halftime lead.

Clemson appeared to put the game out of reach, starting the second half with 14 unanswered points to go up 55-24, but special teams mistakes and another Boyd interception allowed the pack to close to 62-48 with just over seven minutes to play.

The score stayed that way as Clemson wound the clock down to preserve the victory.
