Hoping to address a need in the secondary, the Clemson coaching staff aggressively pursued Adrian Baker.
Adrian Baker officialed to Clemson in December.
The three-star cornerback from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna Prep) committed to the Tigers on Wednesday morning in a ceremony at his school.
According to Baker, he also seriously considered Oklahoma.
At one time, the 6-feet-1, 163-pounder was committed to Florida State.
"“Clemson is a powerhouse -- they just beat LSU," Baker told 247Sports recently.
Baker, who is ranked as the No. 386 prospect nationally and No. 29 cornerback in the 247Composite, visited Clemson for his official on Dec. 7 and took his official visit to Oklahoma on Dec. 14.
His close relationship with Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables clearly played a factor in his final decision.
“Coach Venables is nice,” Baker said. “He’s a little intense, but other than that he’s cool. He was at Oklahoma for a long time, so he’s a stable guy. That’s important.”
Baker committed to Florida State on July 3. But he parted ways with the Seminoles on Dec. 17.
Baker recorded three interceptions in 2012 and five the previous season.
