For Ryan Carter, this was a case of better late than never.
Ryan Carter made an official visit to Clemson two weeks ago.
After receiving a last-minute offer from Clemson, the cornerback/safety from Loganville (Ga.) Grayson pounced on the opportunity to be a Tiger and committed to the Clemson staff.
The 5-feet-10, 175-pound Carter, a two-star prospect in the 247Composite, is a high school teammate of another Clemson signee, running back Wayne Gallman.
To say the least, Carter has been an important player for Grayson, which won a state title in 2011 and again made the playoffs this past season. Carter recorded four interceptions in 2012, returning two for touchdowns.
Although the Clemson offer took awhile to arrive, Carter had faith it would.
"[Clemson coach] Dabo [Swinney] said he liked how physical I am," Carter said. "They love how I am in the run game."
When two of his Grayson (Ga.) teammates -- one being No. 1 prospect Robert Nkemdiche -- de-committed from Clemson back in November, Carter figured his chances of landing a Tigers offer were gone.
But in recent weeks, Carter had multiple conversations with Clemson, and he made an official visit there two weeks ago.
