Today, we grade the Clemson Tigers on their 2013 signing class.

  • Pretty fair assessment Keith....I think Clemson met their needs and filled the very big void in the secondary, which was the most critical deficiency on the roster. I think the staff has a pretty good idea of what they have on campus in the secondary and just went into overhaul mode.

If there are any critiques, it's the lack of an elite edge rusher and generally less star power than initially expected at receiver. Still some good prospects in there groups though all are more developmental rather than immediate impact.

As far as the athletes go I can see Green as a receiver all the way, and Edmond as DB all the way too. Kearse is interesting in that I could see him as a SS or a SAM/hybrid player. The important thing is he has length and can run, and if he gets an understanding of the defense could be the athletic type player we've generally been missing for a couple of years in the rear of the defense.

As I said in the other post, I feel really good about this class despite the fact we were in great shape for Nkemdiche, Lawson, Adams and Robinson at various times and didn't close them. That happens some years, but it won't happen every year, and we still hauled in a solid class despite those "losses".

I know the stars dont indicate we have pulled in an elite pass rusher but I have a feeling Shaq and Ebo are very good DEs . I think both will prove to be very good pick ups down the road. Lawson may be able to provide an impact this year. I also thought we shouldve have tried harder for the DE the coots signed the covington kid.
