Clemson's Wealth of Wide Receivers

Far and away Clemson's strongest position on the field should be wide receiver, affording OC Chad Morris a great deal of flexibility.

  • Yeah, where's the Humphries love? argue

I have a wait-and-see approach with Bryant. I'm not so sure he isn't eclipsed this year by Charone Peake, who has a better feel for the position but just struggled considerably last year with confidence.

  • I think everyone feels comfortable about the receivers, but in my mind there are some interesting subplots to the passing game in general this season:

    1. Pass protection

Will Boyd have time to get the ball out to the outside receivers? Surely opposing defenses will test our line with blitzes and stunts, and will the reserve backs be able to identify their responsibilities?

    2. How much will the backs be used in the passing game, and will they have sure hands? Also, Boyd struggled last season with throws to the flats. Will he improve on that?

    3. How much will Dwayne Allen be missed, if any? Brandon Ford has great hands, enough speed, etc., but is he physical enough? Also, what's behind him? I would think Ford may be one of the most important pieces this season as he can work underneath and in the middle of the field to help keep drives moving and force the secondary to respect these areas.
