Who do you think will be our starting backers when UGA rolls in? I am think Jones, Anthony and Shuey...Thoughts? What about DE? How fast does Lawson make an impact? Food for thought.....
Sam - Anthony
Mike - Shuey or Jones
Will - Steward or Jones
It is now or never for Steward, hopping it works out for the kid.
Starters for UGA at DE will probably be Barnes and Crawford. Will probably change later on in the year though. The light needs to go on for Crawford quick.

I will be shocked if isn't Jones, Shuey and Anthony. You may see Kearse at OLB/hybrid as he catches up to his frame.
No offense to Shuey but the line up will be Anthony, Jones and Steward. Shuey is a little limited in coverage and I think Steward is motivated to take a starting role.
Agree with this

I think you're exactly right, Cory. Not sure if the combo of Steward, Anthony, and Jones will be on the field together yet for the UGA game. They may go with the experience up the middle.
I do, however, expect that combo to be the starting combo at some point during the season.
I can tell you talking to Venables after games he trusts Shuey out there. There will be lots of competition at linebacker this fall- Shuey, Jones, Anthony, Steward, Goodson and others.
I hope you are right about Tony.
Tony will have a bigger role on defense this year... He is FINALLY at full strength after 2 years of injuries
I really think Kellen Jones is going to have a big year too, he's motivated and I think he would have been our 2nd best LB on the field behind Willard

You do remember that our defense was a dumpster fire last year until Shuey became a starter. Don't get me wrong, it still wasn't great but it was the DB's primarily, and not the LB's. Its not always the most gifted athlete that plays, but often the guy with the highest football IQ or most cerebral.
Personally, I'm not sure we see Steward in anything more than a support role but hope I'm wrong. He has had some devastating injuries and I'm not positive he "gets it". I hope he is able to contribute though.
You could be right, what I saw from Shuey last you you have to have him on the field this year. He is a headhunter you may be right on coverage but on 3 and 1 he should be out there. The sad things is it took him 3 years to come around but he did!
Shuey was quicker than Steward last season. I think Steward's PT all depends on whether he can regain enough quickness. He's just been saddled with bad knees and I wonder if he'll ever be the same player as before. I wish him the best though and hope he comes lose to the player we recruited.
Shuey may see a reduction on playing time but they won't shelve him. He played well last year and will a senior leader this fall.
As for the 2013 rotation, I see it like this:
W - Jones
M - Shuey
S - Anthony
W - Steward
M - Parker
S - Christian
Thats not a bad lineup...not sure bout parker but remains to be seen...goodson will fight hard also. I think inserting shuey in last year helped but what really helped was the DL settled down and the light switch came on for the young pups midway through the season...which inturn helped the lbs by not being engulfed as much.
Truth be told, I am just thrilled that we finally have the talent that we can have this conversation! Competition is a beautiful thing, and makes all involved better! Iron sharpens iron. Let the competition begin, go hard young men, we are pulling for everyone of you!
Charlie, I have to agree with you, its nice knowing that we have the talent now for this kind of competition.
Exactly...its a nice problem to have....One guy I wanna watch real close is Justin Parker. Is he ready to be the guy he was supposed to be?
