They would drive a wooden stake in the heart of the SEC and ESPN.

I understand you are speaking hypothetically, but the Big 10 will only go for AAU (Association of American Universities) schools. They covet GT, UNC, and UVA more than any others in the ACC.
Im not sure if thats the the case...Dont they have some non AAU schools
Nebraska is the only one that's not. The ACC has Duke, UNC, GT, Va for starters I remember.
The most recent list I saw shows Nebraska as the only non-AAU member. Maryland and Rutgers are members as well. I feel like I have read that this is part of their criteria moving forward.
They want a football power. I lived in Atlanta there are more CU fans there than GT fans. Check the television ratings, we push the meter. Our Games have some of the highest ratings for ESPN. (Not just the bowl game)
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody is around to here it does it make a sound? Plug Maryland, Virginia football in there
I dont care which one we go to big10 or big12 I just want out of this high school league.
The thing about Nebraska is, they were actually an AAU member when the BIG10 invite came. Then they lost AAU status right after joining. Which, as you can imagine, really made the BIG10 officials happy.
I would imagine were just as good of an academic institution as the schools in the big10 well not northwestern haha
Yeah, I guess AAU boils down mostly to research $. Because, from my perception and things I've heard in general...i can't believe that Ohio St., Michigan St, Iowa, Iowa St., Kansas, and at one time, Nebraska could be considered "elite" academic institutions. Not trying to say Clemson should be...just saying.
I know those i listed aren't all BIG10...just reading membership list, those stand out.
