These are old when it comes to expansion, where yesterday's news is today's history. FWIW, a Texas site is reporting:
"ACC has called a 10AM emergency meeting in Greensboro to officially vote on Notre Dame. It is not clear in what capacity, ie partial or full membership. Official votes come AFTER schools have accepted unofficial invite."
Nothing confirmed on twitter but rumors are out there.
Which TX site is posting this?
A poster on OrangeBloods who is citing WVU Insider.
Don't buy this just yet...
Orangebloods is Dodds mouthpiece. He may WANT this out there... even if untrue.
this originated on the WVU Scout site so I wouldn't say it is UT spin. The guy that posted it eerlaw11 seems to be respected but who knows if it's true or not.
how does notre dame as a partial member help to make up the financial shortfalls the acc faces when compared to the other conferences. Only way this works and clemson and fsu should stay is if notre dame is a full member, and that doesn't happen til 2015.
I see Laxer... good call. I didn't know that. In that case, I don't know if it's true or not...
But I will say this:
1. I don't see ND moving Olympic Sports to a conference that won't allow them to keep 3rd tier rights if they one day join in football.
2. I don't see CU and FSU being ok with the concessions it would take to get ND.
I'm with you on that. Get in or get out, stop sticking your toe in the water and wrecking conferences.
This is no longer a true statement.
Per the rumor earlier in the night, Clemson has supposedly agreed to staying in the ACC if ND joins.
So now if accurate the question is how much a f'n is Swofford willing to take on this...partial membership(no football)? Uneven revenues? ridiculous home/away splits? Seriously if ND has the Big 12 on the hook and NBC and the ACC...and is running back and forth with demands...I can't see anyway this turns out well for the ACC as a whole or Clemson.
Right there with you, CULaxer. I have zero confidence that this works out well for Clemson.
You mean about OB being a mouthpiece for Dodds? I don't doubt you at all... i just know they have been in the past.
Why do you say not any longer?
if ND agrees to join to what degree?
There was a falling out.

The ACC is making a play at ND.
I've heard the ACC is making a play but I have no other details at the moment
Notre Dame isn't going to join any conference in football. Reports have been that NBC and them are getting close to a deal.
Hell, if there is any truth to this latest rumor its just as likely leaked by Notre Dame to put pressure on NBC to sweeten their deal a bit.
Lol at someone down voting that.
Also, Clemson fans.....
If one of the biggest problems many of you have with the ACC, as far as I can tell, is that they are more interested in basketball and are willing to sacrifice the football side of things to make basketball better. If that's accurate, how will it go over with yourselves and FSU if they offer Notre Dame an impressive deal to join the conference, and football isn't included.
Would that kind of deal make you guys happier with the ACC or would if further strain relations?
Agree. Asked the same thing earlier.
If the ACC were to get ND for everything but football, I would rather Clemson leave the ACC and die as an independent school than to take the abuse in the ACC. There is nothing the ACC could do at this point that would make me want to stay.

Coming from a fan of WVU, having partial members who don't play all sports is simply a conference killer. Notre Dame had full voting rights in the Big East, and even though they didn't play us, or any of the BE teams who were actually good enough to beat them, they were always happy to claim one of the best bowl games the BE was tied in with. The ACC would have to offer that to them at least, and probably piles and piles of money.
completely agree....completely....John Swofford is a joke
Texas fan here and I believe ND can go play with themselves.
