The ACC has been a basketball conference for a long time, but now that Maryland is likely leaving and heading to the Big Ten, the likely replacement for the Terrapins in the ACC will be UCONN.
That means the ACC will have basketball powerhouses Duke, UNC, Syracuse, and UCONN (with N.C. State and FSU being important teams as well), while the conference continues to struggle to gain respect in football.
Clemson will be one of three (THREE!) teams in the ACC to go 8-4 or better in football (and that's only if UNC beats Maryland on Saturday).
This is nothing knew, but with the Maryland announcement supposedly coming this afternoon, it's a timely discussion again.
Are Tiger fans tired or okay with being a football school in a basketball conference?

It doesn't matter now, but it will next year. Under the BCS formula, no conference can have more than two teams in a BCS bowl, but the new playoff system does not have such limitations. And, to show you how much the media disrespects both FSU and Clemson's 10-1 records, LSU (9-2) and Texas A&M (9-2) are ranked higher than the Seminoles and Tigers in this week's AP Poll, and Stanford (9-2) is ranked ahead of Clemson... and rightfully so, the ACC competition level is garbage. So unless Clemson goes undefeated one year, they'll never make the national championship playoff playing in the ACC.
I'm against staying in the ACC, but this arguement is flawed. My understanding is that the playoff won't be radically different: essentially the same system with a plus 1. Based on this system, K-State and Oregon would be on the outside looking in as well this year (although one would likely slide in after the SEC champ game) The way the system is today, we could have gone 11-1 in the B12 or PAC16 and still been on the outside looking in. Yes, we need the ACC to be better (or find a new home) but the system is a mess, too.
well regardless...if we had a playoff system this year...the acc would be on the outside....and thats ashame with two one loss teams
