A couple of things to add:
Oregon and USC both looked stout, and the 11/3 showdown in Eugene will be must see viewing. Like many they played overmatched teams, but they still looked very good in their execution and will be MNC contenders.
Sticking with the PAC 10 theme, Jeff Tedford had better get it going in a hurry. The guy seems to recruit pretty well out there but the results just our matching up.
Surprising flop for Mike Leach at WASU. Better days ahead there i'm sure but they looked pretty awful.
I watched some of the Florida game on Saturday and they just looked awful. I think Will Muschamp is a good coach but I'm not sure he has the "it " factor to run a big time program like that. I think he could have used seasoning at a lesser job to better prepare him. He seems wound up so tight and his team plays that way.
On USCe, I think there are 3-4 losses in there for sure. They don't look new as stout defensively, and the offense is very one-dimensional. It's just one game (cough), but their pathology was pretty predictable before the season and what I saw on Thursday simply reinforced what I thought they'd be.
Tood Gurley is impressive. He'd look quite good in a Clemson uniform, but oh well....

Good stuff. Too add
- Nick Saban said last month this would be his best defense. He may be right.
- It's early but you're right on Connor Shaw. Spurrier saying he can barely lift his arm. That spells disaster for the Gamecocks.
- West Va: if people under estimate them they will pay dearly. That is a very good team especially on offense.
- I agree w/ Jody on USC and Oregon.
- Auburn falls in a category I think. I think they may have a long year ahead of them. If Auburn loses to Miss St this week they could be in for real trouble.
- UNC, you can already see they are much improved on offense.
- Florida you are dead on except I think they RB and WR's problems too.

You guys forgot the biggest thing.....
-Kentucky is still awful
Id love to see Gurley in Clemson Orange, but oh well.
Havent watched Fla State yet, gonna this week, personally, think Clemsons better than the Noles.
I really think it's Alabama and LSU, and I really think Oregons gonna be there....
I agree on USC and Oregon. I had USC as my #1 team in the nation to start the season and can easily see a 1A/1B argument for them and Alabama at this early stage. The 11/3 showdown could determine one half of the representative in the MNC.
With the SCar secondary looking so awful, the game in two weeks vs Mizzou just got very, very interesting.
Thats right South Carolina can play "that bad" and still beat a quality opponent on the road. (Vandy is much better than auburn and will prove it on Oct. 20)
Shaq thank you! Tramel Terry..... your on the clock :)
Vandy isn't aquality opponent. I thInk y'all win a lot of games this year and look ugly doing it. But make no mistake. We are going to put it in your ass with no lube come November 24th.
That's right you're an effin moron.
You didnt answer a single question about your team during your matchup against the juggernaut that is Vandy and actually created more questions.
Good luck with Dylan Thompson leading that anemic offense this year
I bet you were predicting SC to win by 21-35 points.
Vandy is not much better than Aub. Its tough to say anything so definite after 1 game, but Aub gets the positional advantage in almost every category over Vandy. I don't think Aub is great at all. Actually, they remind me a lot of SC.
Both have New DC's, Strong DL's, replacing 2-3 guys on OL, unproven receivers, a strong running game, but both have questions about their qb's when asked to throw. We'll know a lot more between now and 10-20, but I think Aub will beat Vandy, and would beat SC if they played again.

SCar doesn't have a D1 QB or a D1 O-line (collectively). This should be their undoing. Congrats on beating Vandy!
I'm not gonna argue with you. I will, however, pose a question to you. What do you think Spurrier will do when he see's 8 in the box to stop Lat? Clemson fans know this feeling, going back to VPI a few years ago.
If Shaw is hurt, or out, what does Spurrier do to counter that?
Ellington is a heck of a back. But you can bet we won't see 8 in the box. The most Morris will see will be 7, and most of the time 5 or 6. You put 7-8 in the box on us, and Boyd Nuk and Watkins will have huge games. If you drop and leave 5-6, we'll run for 320 like against AU.
I'm just curious as to how you see your guys adjusting.
Good points Rob. The size at WR for SC presents a challenge too. The WR corp goes 5'7, 5'8, 5'9. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The secondary will be challenged in a big way against ECU. Mike Leach air raid disciple Lincoln Riley is the OC at ECU. If SC gets pressure on the QB they can control the game however if ECU has time to pass they could test the ECU secondary.
Perhaps, but one of them won't be to Clemson.
2012 Season stats: 143 carries, 662 yards, 11 TD's; 26 catches, 173 yards;
Praying for a full recovery, Marcus. God Bless You!
Nothing SCar showed Saturday says otherwise.
Probably the one thing that might keep me from paying up here when my trial ends is the fact that we allow all this cross board stuff. If I want to hear chickens crow, I will go to a general message board somewhere.
I know we have the option to "Show post to Clemson247 subscribers only" but that doesn't help if someone else starts a thread without it. How about an 'Ignore non Clemson247 Posts' as a setting?

I'm guessing you said the same thing after the first game the last couple years as well? Maybe after our games against MSU and Auburn last year? Like it was stated originally, one game doesn't tell you a whole lot. You can make all the assumptions in the world, but you know what happens when you assume... and I know you meant Thursday, not Saturday.
SCar looked the exact same as last year. It will be 4 in a row, nothing Clemson showed Saturday says otherwise.
did it really?
You gave up almost 300 yards to Vandy
You dont have a passing game without Alshon.
Your QB play actually got worst. For gods sake Shaw cant even get the ball to his receivers
And yet still defeated a quality opponent on the road, it's called elite defense, klemp won't see one until Nov. 24, say all you want about yards bottom line vandy only scored 13 which is the same another team scored last time USC played them.
You better hope you are an elite defense this weekend... Lincoln Riley is one of the brightest young offensive minds in the country.
an elite defense doesnt give up almost 300 yards to vandy.
You have questions in the secondary and the interior of your defensive line is lacking. Throw in Clowney taking off plays and you are really going to take a step back this year.
lol Vandy isn't a quality opponent.
You squeaked past a very weak team. As I mentioned earlier, this is not surprising considering Shaw is not a D1 QB and your o-line lacks D1 talent.
As I pointed out earlier in this thread, USC will be formidable, but after watching them play Vandy on Thursday they just don't look as menacing on defense as last season. The ends are great, but among the other 9 there is a mix of some good players and just some so-so guys out there. I think they can be exploited in the passing game.
Offensively the lack of a downfield passing game is going to be problematic at times. Lattimore is good, but you're not going to win 11 games with him and Connor Shaw scrambles, assuming he even makes it through the season.
Looking at the schedule you will lose to LSU, and I feel there are at least 2 more losses there between UGA, Clemson, Arkansas, Tennessee and Florida.
So you are saying klemp can't stop a non D1 QB??? And who was that unranked team klemp was squeaking out a win against on Saturday???
Squeaking out a win? Clemson dominated that game. Led during most of it, while you had to have a pass interference not called to beat Vandy.
VANDY! I mean if it were someone good I would understand, but VANDY?
You talk shit about Auburn but yet you couldnt even beat them last year
Dominated? It was a 1 possession game late in the 4th qtr. Gulp gulp gulp, hows that kool-aid?
