Switching to a 3-4

  • Saw this as a discussion on tos thought I would bring it here. This is something I have spoke with Cory about. I think with the personnell we have that we could be very successful with it. Moving a guy like Beasley to an OLB and put him in a role like jarvis jones for the leghumpers would be a very productive move IMO.

At the Zero tech you would have a group of Watson, Williams, Reader, Jarrett(although he could do multiple spots) and pagano
At the 5 techs you would pull two guys from the group of : Crawford, Barnes, Watkins,Dodd,Byers, Aiken, Lawson, Rogers
At the Rush end backer(Bandit) you would have a group of: Beasley,Ebo,Parker
At sam backer you would have a group of Anthony, Christian,ODaniel,Burrell
At the inside backer spots you would pull two from : Jones, Steward, Shuey, Goodson, Boulware

What do yall think...I think you could probably stand barnes up and use him at bandit as well and move parker arround. Also Grady jarretts a guy who i think has enough athleticism he could stand up at bandit and be ok.

  • I think what's more likely is at times you see 3 down 2 standing in rush packages or perhaps hybrid formations like the rabbit where 4 speed rushers are on the line. I don't see Venables switching to 3-4 when he is getting his guys used to his defense. The other thing is 75% of Clemson's snaps are usual in nickel.

  • I dont think I would base out of it but with the type of offenses we see in the acc it could be something we do as a changeup and use to bring pressure
