To give you a feel for Clemson's recruiting imprint, we've mapped out the classes from 2009 through 2013.

  • Good work. Pretty clear where Clemson's bread and butter is - SC, NC and Fl

  • You definitely see where the bread and butter is.

With Clemson winning more, that should allow the Tigers to dip out of the Southeast and cherry pick a little more. The program has a lot more notoriety than it did 10 years ago.

  • Whew. That looks like it took a lot of work, my man! Good stuff.

One thing that sticks out to me is the relatively small number of Clemson additions in "south" Georgia -- meaning, in this case, south of Atlanta.

Jacksonville has provided a Clemson pipeline since the early 1980s, but Clemson has gotten quite a few good players from between there and Atlanta, too. It's certainly within the desired geographic footprint where the Tigers recruit, and there is no shortage of talent in that region.

Also, not sure Clemson will be able to compensate for Andre' Powell's departed presence in Delaware (Timothy, Watson). ... Have to admit, the Tigers have gotten more out of those two takes than I had initially expected.

Watson will have a great year this year. D.J. Reader surprised some people too, ahem.

  • Think we're gonna see a lot more icons landing within Georgia during this next cycle.

  • Clemson needs to start doing a better job in the state of Georgia. Lots of great talent there and it's right next door.

I went back to 2006 and looked at our signees from the Peach State, and not only are we lacking in number, but also impact players.

    2006: Palmer
    2007: Moore
    2008: Richt, Thompson
    2009: Wright
2010: V. Beasley, D. Beasley, Robinson, Peters, Jenkins, Webster
    2011: Crawford, Jarrett, Lakip
    2012: None

That's only 14 players signed in 7 years, a paltry 2 per year.

As for impact, I count one player, and that's Brandon Thompson.

I'd say Palmer, Moore, Wright, both Beasley's, Robinson, Jenkins, Crawford and Jarrett are solid rotational players. The others (Richt, Peters & Lakip) have basically been non-factors.

That's 10/14 who were contributors, which is pretty good, but only one impact player.

The 2013 class looks similar in that Priester, Morris, Gallman and Dye all look like quality players, but only Dye looks like he made have star potential. Meanwhile, guys like Lawson, Adams, Nkemdiche & Robinson all look to have star potential, and we missed on all 4 despite having had commitments from 2 at one time and were in good position with two others.

  • It all depends on the cycle, we have had more success in south Florida because of Sammy Watkins, and that area has done well for us the past 3 years. GA is being hit hard by us this 2014 cycle and I think we will sign at least 3 out of GA if today was signing day, Kitt Watson and Patterson the D Tackle.

We tried this year but the SEC mafia ran us out...We are starting out strong for 2014 but I wont get excited til they sign on the dotted line

FSU always seems to recruit okay.

If you continue to win ... and produce NFL players .... they will come.
